Steve Holzhauer established Holzhauer Partners in 2020 as a boutique design firm serving clients with designs and consulting on buildings and architecture. His career in architecture includes over 35 years’ experience as shareholder and managing partner at two major Wisconsin firms.
Firm growth & leadership
At Eppstein Uhen Architects (1996–2021), Steve helped grow the firm from a staff of 70 to over 200. He opened and managed the firm’s Madison, WI office in 2005. By 2021, the Madison office had over 35 staff and was shaping the Capitol city in all directions.
Legacy architecture & delivery
Holzhauer Partners LLC was established specifically to focus on the delivery of legacy architecture. Steve is process-oriented in guiding clients to understand the complexities of designing, planning, bidding, and building new projects.
Project experience
Steve has managed over 500 projects, including major corporate campuses, research facilities, innovation centers, mixed-use urban redevelopments, and custom single-family homes.
Advisory work & education
He serves Bespoke Real Estate Advisors, Inc., an international consulting firm with projects across the U.S. He earned his Master of Architecture degree from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee in 1985.
Community involvement
Steve is an active leader on the Board of Directors of AIA Wisconsin, serves on the Board of BOSS (Building on Student Success), and has been a member of the Madison Downtown Rotary Club since 2008.
