Career path

Homebuilding and industry leadership

Matt’s career began in the homebuilding industry, where he served as Executive Director of the Metropolitan Builders Association and helped independent builders collaborate around shared goals.

State government and economic development

He later served as Deputy Secretary of the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, Deputy Chief of Staff for Governor Scott Walker, and Strategic Economic Initiatives Director for the State of Wisconsin.

Wangard leadership

After serving as President and COO at Wangard, Matt was appointed Chief Executive Officer as part of the company’s long-term succession plan, broadening his leadership across development, investment, and property management.
