Stewart Wangard Stewart Wangard
President/CEO

Stewart Wangard, as CEO/President of Wangard Advisors, brings extensive knowledge and experience in real estate investment partnerships, real estate development and brokerage. Stu has served many leading institutional, individual, and corporate owners in both investment sales and acquisition capacities. A sampling of portfolio includes Aetna Realty Advisors, Travelers Realty Investment Company, Firstar Trust of Wisconsin, TCF Bank, First Financial Realty Advisors, TOLD Development Company, Applied Power International, Protective Life, Equitable Insurance, State Teachers Retirement System of Ohio, Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, Illinois Teachers Pension Fund, Smith Barney, and Associated Bank. Now in his 30th year in the commercial real estate industry, Stu has sold in excess of $1 billion dollars in investment real estate and has leased several million square feet of property. Stu is an active member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI), International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) and the Commercial Association of Realtors of Wisconsin (CARW). He is also an active member of the NAIOP, the Commercial Real Estate Development Association and is the current Transportation Committee Chair. He has been active in his community serving on his Village Plan Commission, Zoning Appeals Board and Architectural Board and is currently on the Board of Directors of the Humane Animal Welfare Society of Waukesha (HAWS).

Wayne Wiertzma Wayne Wiertzema
Executive Vice President

As Executive Vice President for Wangard Partners, Wayne Wiertzema's responsibilities include overseeing the development team and the entire development process for the company from concept to completion. He has extensive experience leading teams in the development and management of corporate retail and support facilities, as well as a strong background in project management and construction of residential and light commercial buildings. For the previous 12 years, Wayne held various management-level development positions at Fresh Brands, Inc., the parent company to Piggly Wiggly in Wisconsin, including VP of Real Estate and Development where he had overall responsibility, for the past 8 years, for all real estate, development, construction and maintenance functions. During his tenure at Fresh Brands, Wayne was directly responsible for the design and development of approximately 100 commercial projects including newly developed retail store sites, renovation and expansions of existing retail facilities, and warehouse facilities. The cost associated with these development projects were well in excess of $200 million. Prior to Fresh Brands, Wayne spent 12 years managing projects and personnel in various facets of residential and light commercial construction.

John Hawkins John Hawkins
Chief Operating Officer

As Chief Operating Officer for Wangard Advisors, John is responsible for all aspects of strategic planning, operations, marketing, acquisitions and investments. With an extensive background in commercial real estate valuation, John maintains a vigilant focus on investment fundamentals and the optimization of value for each project. John’s contributions are central to Wangard’s mission: to offer our clients superior investments through acquisition, structural and marketing innovation. With over 18 years of commercial real estate finance, valuation, and acquisition experience, John brings a breadth of knowledge to the Wangard team that includes in excess of $1.5 billion in transactional volume. Prior to co-founding Wangard Advisors in 2006, John held successive positions as Director of Sales and then Director of Acquisitions for DBSI Group, one of the nation’s largest private real estate syndication companies. After working for over 12 years as a commercial real estate appraiser in markets throughout the Midwest, John was hired as Vice President of Commercial Real Estate for First National Bank & Trust, heading new business development and portfolio management for over $150 million of commercial real estate loans secured by multiple asset classes. John earned his BA degree in Economics from Indiana University. He later completed the requisite educational MAI curriculum from the Appraisal Institute in Chicago. John is a licensed real estate broker and former Certified General Appraiser in the State of Indiana.

John Thomsen John Thomsen
Vice President

As vice president of Wangard Advisors, John Thomsen has been involved with the acquisition, ownership structure, and marketing of over $125 million in institutional-grade commercial properties through Wangard's various syndication programs. John's primary responsibilities include managing the firm's overall sales efforts, expanding referral networks, and supervising independent field sales. John is continuously monitoring specific market trends to provide recommendations to adjust acquisition goals and to further educate clients. Prior to co-founding Wanagard Advisors, John served as Vice President for Wangard Partners, Inc. for 6 years. During that time, John gained valuable experience in a diverse range of real estate functions, including property management, lease transaction management, acquisitions and dispositions, as well as real estate consulting. John has brokered in excess of $75,000,000 in investment real estate and has leased over 500,000 square feet of space for his clients. John is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin - Madison with a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology and was a scholar athlete from 1994 to 1998. John is also a licensed commercial real estate broker and a member of The University of Wisconsin W-Club, Wisconsin Real Estate Alumni Association (WREAA), Commercial Association of Realtors (CARW), National Association of Realtors (NAR), NAIOP, and International Council of Shopping Center (ICSC).

Tony DeRosa Tony DeRosa
Vice President of Development

Tony joined Wangard Partners in the summer of 2002 as an intern while attending the University of Wisconsin - Madison. After graduating in May of 2003 with "Distinction Honors" with a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree in Real Estate and Urban Land Economics, Tony joined Wangard full time as a real estate analyst. Tony currently is the Vice President of Development with responsibilities including the management of development projects as well as sourcing development opportunities. He is also involved in securing financing for projects. Tony is active professionally with groups such as the Wisconsin Real Estate Alumni Association (WREAA) and NAIOP. He is also a licensed real estate salesperson in the state of Wisconsin.

Mona Aponte Mona Aponte
Director of Investor Relations

As Director of Investor Relations for Wangard Advisors, Mona Aponte has over 13 years of commercial real estate transaction experience. Prior to joining Wangard, Mona served as a Securities Broker and Operations Manager for Robert W. Baird in Milwaukee. She is knowledgeable in all facets of the real estate exchange and transfer process and has coordinated transactions totaling in excess of $240 million, with an emphasis on fractional ownership structures. Mona works hand-in-hand with investors, attorneys, lenders, CPA's and title companies to keep transactions on task and moving toward timely, successful closings. She is a licensed real estate salesperson in the state of Wisconsin.


Joseph McGuire Joseph McGuire
Property Manager

Joseph McGuire joined Wangard Properties, LLC in 2009 as Property Manager. Joseph brings a strong background in property management built upon more than 11 years of experience in the real estate industry. Joseph’s strong business background, financial skills and ground operations experience prove invaluable to both our management firm and our clients. Joseph has demonstrated success exceeding client expectations for controlling budgets through his focus and ability to achieve significant cost savings. He also has a strong track record for accomplishing on-time and on-budget implementation of capital improvements for clients. Joseph previously was with Richter Realty and Investment, Inc. located in Brookfield, WI, acting as the Director of Property Management. As part of the management team he was responsible for the oversight of more than 500,000SF of office and retail properties. Prior to that, Joseph served as the Property Manager for The Marcus Corporation (NYSE ), the seventh largest theater circuit in the U.S., with locations in major markets throughout the Midwest. Joseph was responsible for managing Marcus’ investment portfolio through their corporate, theater, and hotel divisions. Prior to joining Marcus, Joseph completed a two year real estate internship with NAI MLG Commercial with one year dedicated to retail brokerage and the remaining time devoted as a Property Management Assistant. Joseph is a graudate of Concordia University, with a Bachelors of Arts in Business Management and is a licensed real estate salesperson in Wisconsin. He currently is a CPM candidate (Certified Property Manager) and a member of IREM (Institute of Real Estate Management).


Margaret Mladenovich Margaret Mladenovich
Project Manager

Margaret Mladenovich joined Wangard Partners in February of 2005 as a Project Manager. Her responsibilities include overseeing the development process from concept to completion including working with and maintaining relationships with contractors, as well as tracking and controlling project costs. For the previous 17 years, Margaret held various management level positions at Generac Power Systems in Wisconsin and at numerous DHL Airways (DHL Worldwide Express) locations. Her responsibilities at these companies included managing a variety of projects and personnel, including project management for light commercial construction and renovation.

Eric Yao Eric Yao
Financial Analyst Intern

Eric is in the MBA program at the James A. Graaskamp Center for Real Estate, University of Wisconsin Madison. In 2004, Eric founded Lily Creek Real Estate & Mortgage Services in Menomonee Falls, WI. He has sold nearly $8 million worth of real estate each year including single family houses, condos, apartment buildings, land, and restaurants and has originated over $30 million in mortgage loans for Wells Fargo Bank, Citigroup, and Countrywide Bank. Prior to moving to Wisconsin, his international experience included serving as a governmental officer for the China Ministry of Housing and Urban Development and as an interpreter for a Yangpu Special Economic Zone development project in southern China. Eric holds a Master's of Science degree in Real Estate from the University of Reading in England and a Master's of Economics degree from Renmin University of China. Eric is involved in financial analysis, market research, due diligence, and development studies for the firm. Eric is pursuing the designation of CFA and will be an AREITs student for the second semester year.
